Sutco Transportation Specialists (part of The Sutherland Group) is in search of a Procurement Manager to join our team. This position can be based out of West Kelowna, Nelson or Salmo BC.
The Procurement Manager’s role is to oversee and manage all aspects of procurement activities to continue the growth and expansion of The Sutherland Group. This position will require a seasoned leader who can implement systems and structure in the Procurement function.

Responsibilities and Duties:
-
Ensure all actions incorporate ‘Sutco’s 7 Commitments’ while working on behalf of all the companies in The Sutherland Group.

Build and maintain strategic relationships with vendors.
-
Manage all aspects of the procurement forecasting and budgeting activities.
-
Own and analyze Procurement spending.
-
Develop and manage short and long-term savings targets through appropriate sourcing and negotiation strategies for managing spend.

Lead, manage, and implement procurement processes to achieve maximum efficiency.

Oversee and manage aspects of the company procurement activities, including but not limited to the vendor management activities and relationships, service level agreements and contract negotiations.

Develop the strategy for procurement activities and processes including how individual businesses and divisions interact various vendors.

Initiate and foster relationships with vendors (producers and suppliers), internal business partners, key customers and the IT department.

Assess market trends and conditions to enable strategic decision making.

Develop key metrics to measure vendor performance, provide appropriate reporting and transparency for performance and implement vendor management guidelines.

Educate and guide internal business partners on best practices for procurement and sourcing strategies.

Work to establish and maintain ‘standard’ supplier contracts and manage contract governance activities to ensure full compliance to relevant agreed processes and timescales.
Qualifications and Skills:
-
5+ years of experience within procurement in a complex and multi-faceted organization.

Financial analysis and cost management experience.

Proven track record of business development relationships and a good understanding of cost reduction strategies.

Ability to manage contracts and negotiations.
-
Strong time management skills, highly organized and detail oriented.
-
Ability to drive a solutions-oriented and entrepreneurial mindset across all business units.

Familiarity with procurement guidelines, cost analysis, inventory management principles and industry leading best practices.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
-
Understanding of the Transportation and/or Forestry Industries is an asset
